LCJH became my teaching home in the Fall of 2002. I student taught on this campus with Wendy Hanks (a real-life hero) and substituted for the rest of the school year prior to accepting a position at LCJH. I am now beginning my 16th year at LCJH. I have taught 6-8th ELA and Reading, Spanish Culture and Language Studies, TAKS Acceleration, Math and Reading in Summerschool. Currently, I am teaching 8th grade Pre-AP ELA, 8th Grade ELA, and Publications. I also cosponsor National Junior Honor Society.
Prior to teaching public school I have had many interesting, rewarding positions. I have tutored math at Lamar, taught preschool and served as a daycare administrator, owned a family home day center, worked as a business manager at a photography studio going on to become a partner in the business. While those were rewarding careers, nothing has given me as much satisfaction as teaching at the junior high level.
I married my partner in crime, best friend, and hubby extrordinaire October 17, 1987. We went on to have three children who are now grown and on their own adventures in adulthood. Currently, we are puppy parents to 4 dogs (yes, we are that crazy), foster parents to a fifth pup, and 1 exceptionally wicked kitty.
In my spare time, I love to read, have adventures, treasure hunt at resale shops, Goodwill stores, and flea markets. I am currently enjoying relearning to fish, trying new crafting projects with a used Cricut, and chalkpainting wood furniture. I am passionate about dogs and work with local rescues to network abused and abandoned pups to find their fur-ever homes.
